Kiryat Bialik, which was founded by immigrants from Germany, has absorbed waves of immigrants over the years from various countries; Austria , North Africa, Georgia and Caucasia, the Former Soviet Union, India, Ethiopia and Latin America . Today immigrants make up 25% of the population of the town.
Kiryat Bialik assists the immigrants by setting up classes for learning the Hebrew language. It grants benefits and concessions by allowing installment payments to the municipality. It has set up centers where lectures are given, trips are arranged, cultural evenings are organized, together with artists' gatherings and concerts.
The immigrant children spend their time in the day boarding schools where they receive assistance with their studies and social enrichment.
The municipality offers work to these immigrants in maintenance jobs within the municipality and it also assists in finding other work places and proposing housing solutions.
The older immigrants offer assistance to the new arrivals by using a “family adoption” programme.
It should be noted that most of the immigrants succeed in establishing an economic situation and settle down successfully in Kiryat Bialik within the first few years. This is something to be very proud of.
